I'm all for hitting the gym and picking things up just to set them down. Hell, I love it. But what happens if you don't have a gym to go to?
In times like these, it's important that you keep your routine going. So why not hit it with a body weight workout? All of the exercises you'll be completing today are body weight only. You won't require any additional equipment or even a gym membership. So what makes this effective?
Every exercise in our workouts utilizes many muscle groups, pumps your heart rate, and burns a lot of calories.
Essentially, body weight training, burns more calories than interval training, and that in turn burns more calories than say, getting on a treadmill for an hour.
When you strength train, you burn calories. And when you're done, your body needs to spend hours and hours rebuilding your muscles, which in turns burns even more calories.
Warm up for 5 minutes
run in place
do a few pushups
jog up and down some stairs
twist and swing your body
Perform as many rounds as possible in 45 minutes of the following:
20 bodyweight squats
10 push ups
20 walking lunges – 10 each leg
15 second plank
30 jumping jacks
