How to stay motivated

Life happens. Sometimes we can feel like there's no light, no hope, that all is lost.

Life happens. Embrace it, every moment of it.

Life happens. Embrace it, every moment of it.

Perhaps, when we're being dragged down by wave after wave, we may be tempted to give way to the water. Just to relax for five minutes, allow the ocean to pull us under into a silent barrage of bubbles and muted voices calling back.

But stop. Listen closer to the voices calling to you beneath the blue hue of liquid pure. In that moment, they are calling for you to move. To find the motivation to persevere.

“You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.” - Johnny Cash

What is motivation? The word has it's roots in the latin word Motiv or "To move".

If you're finding yourself stuck in apathy, your best bet to move on is literally to move.

With that in mind I wanted to offer a quick list of quotes to inspire you to move. To find the motivation to fight against the waves. To prevail.

I hope that you find a quote below that resonates with you. When you do, write it down and read it aloud and read it often.  If you know someone that could benefit from this, please share it.

And finally-

are powerful
forces of nature.

they are destruction.
they are nourishment.
they are flesh.
they are water.
they are flowers
and bone.

they burn. they cleanse
they erase. they etch.

they can either
leave you

or brimming
with home.”

-Sanober Khan

Choose carefully your words. Both the words you speak and those you choose to listen to. Words are power. Power to heal as much as to destroy. Power to incinerate and power to create. Power to paralyze and power to move.  Above all else, choose to move.
